More hints & tips
So you've sent through your CV, been through our comprehensive registration and interview process and we've lined you up for some fantastic interviews. Naturally some candidates are more confident than others, however, every individual has an equal chance in an interview situation. Your dedicated consultant will now provide you specific and tailored guidance for each of your interviews.
Preparation. Preparation. Preparation.
Make sure you are fully prepared for your interview. Get a copy of the job description from your consultant and make a note of the person you will be meeting.
Write down all of the key areas where the job spec matches your skills and experience. Find out as much about the company as you can – do some research on the internet and prepare some questions to ask on the day.
Finally, plan your route and start off early. A dummy run before your interview is always a good idea.
The interview
First impressions count so make sure you are on time and appropriately dressed.
If you are delayed, make sure you ring your consultant immediately. Be polite to any staff you meet at your interview; you never know, they could be influential in whether you are offered the role.
Remember that the interview is a two-way conversation; so remain attentive and alert whilst keeping the conversation flowing.
Offer precise and detailed answers to questions and never criticise your last employer as this can create a negative attitude.
Ask your prepared questions and listen attentively to the answers. It is useful to make notes to refer to after the interview.
If you are interested in the position, say so! Ask what the next stage is and if they think you are suitable for the position.
